Our Story

The Promotion of Education in Pakistan (PEP) Foundation, Inc. was founded by two world famous Alzheimer disease scientists, Drs. Khalid Iqbal and Inge Grundke-Iqbal in December 1994. In 1995 Dr. Khalid Iqbal was awarded the Potamkin Prize for Alzheimer's Disease Research for his outstanding research on the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. Dr. Iqbal donated his entire prize money to the PEP Foundation. He continues to donate all book royalties, consultant fees and lecture fees to the Foundation. In addition, the PEP Foundation's work is supported through the generous contributions of  many others committed to the cause.

Sadly, Dr. Inge Grundke-Iqbal passed away in 2012. Dr. Khalid Iqbal continues to serve as the President of the Board of Trustees.
